Scott Turner Schofield is a man who was a woman, a lesbian turned straight guy who most people think is a gay teenager. Even more improbably, he's a Female-to-Male (FTM) transsexual with a queer, transgender identity living and working nationwide from inside the Deep South (Atlanta, GA). Not surprisingly, his work centers on contradictions and comedy.
Becoming a Man in 127 Easy Steps is the last installment of an autobiographical performance trilogy, a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure solo work combining aerial acrobatics and multimedia storytelling for an unrepeatable evening of gender exploration. Literally: in just the way human beings unconsciously choose how we see gender based on our own cultural cues, audiences for this show choose Schofield's narrative path from female-to-male, choosing what stories they will hear, step-by-step.

Hello everyone! Welcome to the UAA Women's and Gender Studies official blog. Here you can find out what we are up to, what we've done, and what we think of whatever is going on in the world.

The UAA Women's and Gender Studies homepage is linked here as well, so if you need contact information in regard to the minor, you will find it there.

On Wednesday, March 26th there will be an Alaska Women in Politics Panel. Find us in RH117 from 7pm - 9pm for some exciting conversation and discussion especially because this year is such a pivotal election year.

On Saturday, April 12th Campus Action Network is hosting "That Takes Ovaries." Find us in The Den at 7pm for this great event which will include a Clothesline Project and a place to make posters for the upcoming Take Back the Night event on Friday, April 25th.
